Creaking is heard long before the boat was seen. It creaked and displaced water, but its movements through the mists were smooth. It had a mast but no sail, it had a keel, but no rudder, it was old and used, but not decayed. The fading erie green glow from the Palace's lighthouse told the travelers that they were almost out of their domain. A hand breaks into the water. "What'cha thinking about?" asks a soft voice. The grey fog slowly turns white. "What were you thinking on your stage?" Another hand shoots into the water, the noise very noticable. Theed opens his eyes, now able to see his comrades. To the rear of the boat is a bald, squat, fat man, mal at ease in jeans and a trenchcoat, the blind brother Boston. Beside him a figure dressed similarly, a few grey streaks in his chestnut brown hair, dangling over his similar coloured eyes, St. Elmo, the captain for this voyage. To the bow of the small vessel, an undestinguished figure in a grey suit and red tie, he knew from the departure that he was Death in disguise. And, leaning on his back was his comrad for life and beyond, the suffering, now arch-angel, Esper Roose, grinning for him. "Its not so hard, help a begger here, renite a lost lover there, defeat an unstoppable force that threatens the fabric of two worlds on occasion, that sort of thing." Theed laughs. Its true that Esper fought off the Shadow of Death to save the Palace, but she wouldn't have had the power if it wern't for his purity and sacrifice. Theed's wings had gone completly colourless after the incident, but now they were almost back to their usual ivory whiteness. All of this couldn't be seen, not ot mortal eyes, or prescient eyes, for their protection, as their route brought them close to the Valley of the Shadow of Death, still very angry. "Cheer up, its not so bad." "Keep sharp maties, here comes the wall." Theed and Esper stand up. A small line of green fore only meters away floats inches above the water. Everyone braces themselves. The wall displaces their sheilding, and Theed can now see his comrads for what they really are. The Brother smiles and shifts comfortably in his habbot. Elmo replaces his trenchcoat for a simple tunic. Esper hasnt changed, except that she has blood in her eyes and in the front part of her blond hair, and of course, her large crimson wings of soft angel down. Theed brushes his hair, instincivley moving his hand aside for his horn, which isn't there. The boat hits against the dock. Esper and Theed embrace arms, and red and white wings on an astral plane. "You'll be fine, Adrian, son of Adrius." She kisses him, and blood flows from her eyes, stealing his suffering. "Its a dangerous buisness, stepping off you front step. If you don't keep your feet, who knows where you'll end up!" "Thanks." he says as the three depart into the fog. Theed turns around and heads up the docks to people. (i know, bad intor posty) "Oh, I almost forgot," says a calm voice with a chilling whisper added to it, "Thank your freind for me, she was a reeeal big help." Says Death, the carrion grin visible under the hood. "And thanks for the lift!" "No problem." he continues to walk, never looking back.
